GPnav Notify
Sends the patient an SMS through Patchs when a request is assigned to one of your practice's boxes. Works with Patchs.
The Chrome Web Store link is on its way. Your practice manager will send it to you.
What it does
Without Notify, telling a patient their request has gone to a box such as 1 Week (Hub Use) takes six steps: assign, go back to the list, find the request again, open it, tick Send as SMS and send. With Notify:
- Choose the box in Assign staff member. Notify fills in your practice's template or message and ticks Send as SMS.
- Check the message, then click Assign request.
- Click Send SMS & assign. Notify sends the message, waits for Patchs to confirm it, then assigns the request.
Nothing is ever sent without a member of staff clicking. If Patchs does not confirm the message, the request is not assigned and you are told. Boxes without a rule work exactly as before.
Getting started
- Add GPnav Notify to Chrome (or Edge) from the store link above.
- Your practice manager gives you a licence key from GPnav Hub. Each member of staff needs their own.
- The GPnav Notify settings open by themselves after installing. (Later, click the GPnav Notify icon in the toolbar, or pin it from the puzzle piece menu.) Paste the key and click Activate.
- Open Patchs as normal. Your practice's box rules are already there.
For practice managers
- Log in to GPnav Hub to see your keys, label them (for example "Sarah, reception") and release a key when someone leaves.
- Notify box rules sets which boxes send an SMS and which Patchs template or message each one uses. Browsers pick up changes within 4 hours, or straight away with Check now in the extension's options.
- A key works in one Chrome and one Edge profile at the same time.
- IT teams can deploy the extension centrally (Intune or Group Policy) and set options by policy.
Privacy and security
- Notify only runs on Patchs pages. It reads the page so it can find the right buttons, and it never copies, stores or sends patient details anywhere.
- It talks to one server, GPnav Hub, to check the licence. That check sends the licence key, a random ID for the browser, the browser type and the extension version. Nothing else.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. Full details are in our privacy policy.

Help
"GPnav Notify needs a licence key"
Ask your practice manager for a key and paste it into the extension's options.
"This key is in use on another browser"
Each key works in one browser profile. Your practice manager can release it in GPnav Hub, or use Remove licence from this browser on the old PC.
"Licence stopped" or "Licence expired"
Notify stops and Patchs works as normal. Contact your practice manager.
"Could not find the template" or "Could not find the SMS controls"
Check the template name in the box rules matches Patchs exactly. If it still happens for everyone, Patchs may have changed its page: contact us and we will fix it centrally.
